Cookie choices
Cookie notice
What is stored on your device, what is optional, and how Analytics and advertising choices are handled.
Your choice comes first
Analytics is optional. On a first visit, the site asks whether you want to accept or reject Google Analytics. Rejecting analytics does not block access to the site's content or tools.
Storage used by this site
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | When used |
|---|---|---|---|---|
flmp_cookie_consent_v1 | Local storage | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics so the site can honour your choice. | 180 days in site logic, or until you clear browser storage. | After you make a cookie choice. |
_ga | Google Analytics first-party cookie | Used by GA4 to distinguish users. | Google default: 2 years, subject to browser limits/configuration. | Only after you accept analytics. |
_ga_* | Google Analytics first-party cookie | Used by GA4 to persist session state. | Google default: 2 years, subject to browser limits/configuration. | Only after you accept analytics. |
How Analytics is implemented
The Google Analytics tag for G-2Y3M00SVYL is not present as an immediately firing page tag. Site JavaScript checks your saved choice first. Only an explicit Accept analytics choice causes the Google tag script to be requested and configured.
If you have previously accepted and then change to reject, the preference is saved, first-party _ga cookies are cleared where accessible to site JavaScript, and the page reloads without loading Analytics.
Advertising consent
Google AdSense is configured only on editorial/content pages, not on the interactive tools or trust/legal pages. For users in the UK, EEA and Switzerland, advertising choices are handled through the Google-certified CMP configured for this site in AdSense. That message controls the advertising storage and personal-data choices required for AdSense in those regions.
The site's own cookie banner controls only Google Analytics. Rejecting Analytics does not prevent you from using the website, and it is separate from any AdSense consent message shown by Google.
How to change your mind
Use the control at any time. You can also clear cookies/site data through your browser. If the site's analytics setup changes materially, the consent version can be changed so visitors are asked again.
Why prior consent is used
UK PECR rules generally require prior consent for non-essential storage or access technologies. Our consent mechanism therefore defaults to no Analytics and waits for an active choice rather than treating continued browsing as consent.
